Saturday 27th June Round Up

30 Jun

This week we celebrated club legend and 2020 captain Vance 'Sharky' Elliot's 100th start for the HOB Premiers, with an excellent team performance out on Fred Jones Park for the first time this season over the old foe Fraser Tech. Our pack were out of the blocks and into their work showing a dominant mindset from the get-go. Sharky himself celebrating with a well taken meat pie midway through the first half. 24-8 HT

While the second half was a tighter affair the Fraser Tech never looked like clawing back the lead. 32-13 Fulltime. Great to see the full clubrooms after an extended offseason.

Premier Bs made a lot better showing on a better track with good indications of growth in the team. Fraser Tech B's eventual winners 17-13.

Our HOB Women travelled across town to play what is becoming the traditional top of the table clash with defending champs Melville in the bog. The game was tight but was sealed by a hatrick to Melville and Black Ferns sevens player Jasmin Hotham. 20-7 final.

An injury-ravaged Guzzlers travelled away with a few semi-retired but willing ring-ins to Raglan and came up against a very motivated home team. In wet conditions, the game was seesawing regularly in both score and momentum. At 5 points down with 10 to play, the Guzzlers forwards were in the hunt, relentlessly pressuring the Raglan line. Eventually, the pressure told and repeat infringements lead to a 7-point penalty try and Guzzlers victory.

The new kids on the block, the HOB U85 Wolves went out to the Leamington to take on what some would consider the competition favourites. An inspired hatrick by Ryan Jordan, got the boys up 29-17 and leaves HOB sitting top of the table with two bonus point wins from two outings. POD Captain Brad Haberfield .

See you next week.
